This exhibition marks The Hayward's 40th anniversary as one of the world's most architecturally unique exhibition venues. The exhibition brings together the work of artists who create habitat-like structures and architectural environments. Become an adventurous participant as you explore The Hayward's spaces inside and out, including a room frozen in a moment of explosive disaster, an eerie village of over 200 dollhouses, a floating plastic cloud and a skyline boating pond.

The first solo exhibition in the UK by Danish artist Jesper Just will premiere the newly commissioned film trilogy A Voyage in Dwelling in addition to a selection of earlier works, including Just's acclaimed film A Vicious Undertow. The new trilogy - consisting of the eponymous work A Voyage in Dwelling, A Room of One's Own and A Question of Silence - stars renowned Danish actress Benedikte Hansen whose character, a woman in middle age, embarks on a psychological journey of displacement to unravel her sexuality. The films register as an uneasy mapping of female desire, as they chart the slippage between one woman's actual and imagined sexual self. Just sensitively explores the idea that "the received paradigm of a man's journey is that he always returns to the point of departure expecting to find his home and wife unchanged, unaffected. Benedikte's experience, by contrast, is one of pleasurable displacement - she becomes a nomad in her own mind, never returning to her former status quo." Shot on a remote island and on a dilapidated Polish ferry, the trilogy also features an original soundtrack by Theremin composer Dorit Chrysler and American transgender singer/songwriter, Baby Dee.

During the day, the gallery will be buzzing with performances to watch and opportunities to get involved, themed around the States of Flux Collection display, which explores change, progress and movement.

Founded two centuries ago, the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium hold some twenty thousand paintings, sculptures and drawings. Located in Brussels, they consist of the Ancient Art Museum (XV - XVII century), the Modern Art Museum (XIX ­ XX century), the Wiertz Museum and the Meunier Museum.

Highlights include the world-famous collection of works by the Flemish Primitives, paintings by various Renaissance and Baroque masters, several interesting pieces from the Neo-classical and Realistic periods of the 18th and 19th centuries, milestones from the Symbolist and Modernist movements, masterpieces by the Flemish Expressionists and a varied selection of Post-1945 modern art. Artists such as Bram Bogart, Hieronymus Bosch, Jean Brusselmans, Petrus Christus, Emile Claus, Gerard David, Paul Delvaux, Gustave De Smet, James Ensor, Fernand Khnopff, René Magritte, Hans Memling, Constant Permeke, Pieter Pourbus, Roger Raveel, Hugo van der Goes, Rogier van der Weyden, Gustave van de Woestyne, Jan van Eyck, Rik Wouters and many others are all exhibited in regularly changing displays.

An exhibition of work by artists Tara Beall and Thomas Joshua Cooper, exploring the relationship between contemporary art and sacred and spiritual spaces. The exhibition is run in collaboration with the University of Glasgow Centre for the Study of Literature, Theology and the Arts, the Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway, and the Glasgow School of Art.

Co-commissioned by Artangel and Glasgow international Festival of Contemporary Visual Art 2008 and produced by Artangel.Ninety metres above the ground, a thin metal wire stretches between three of the tower blocks in Red Road, North Glasgow. A solitary figure steps off the edge of the building and onto the line before him. He moves slowly and gracefully, step by silent step, and along the wire. A multi-screen film and video installation receiving its première at the CCA for Glasgow international 2008 HIGH WIRE continues Catherine Yass’ interest in vertiginous spaces: architecture, height and scale have been dominant formal themes in her previous work. The installation draws on Yass' filmed footage of Didier Pasquette taken at Red Road in Glasgow in 2007, and is as much concerned with the isolated physical space inhabited by the walker — in a landscape dominated by the brutalism of the tower blocks — as with his remarkable mental and physical transformation during the course of the attempted walk. HIGH WIRE brings together personal dreams of walking in the air with modernist dreams of a utopian ideal. The exhibition also includes a new series of Yass’ lightboxes evolved from the project at Red Road. ABOUT CATHERINE YASS Catherine Yass is one of the most innovative artists working with film and photography today. She was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2002 and has recently exhibited her work in the USA, Spain, the Netherlands and Japan. Her short films generate startling new perspectives on the urban environment, capturing familiar sights from highly unusual vantage points. Presented upside down, Descent (2002) was filmed with a camera lowered from a crane through the morning mist from one of the massive construction sites at Canary Wharf in London. Flight (2002) was made from a remote-controlled helicopter circling the BBC Television Centre in London. In her most recent film Lock, Yass filmed the Three Gorges Dam in China. The work is currently on show at Alison Jacques Gallery, London.

Since graduating from Glasgow School of Art, Lambie's work has been included in high-profile exhibitions such as Zenomap, Venice Biennale (2003); the Carnegie International, USA (2004); and the Turner Prize, London (2005).

The exhibition examines the use of the color gray by the American artist Jasper Johns (b. 1930) between the mid-1950s and the present. It brings together more than 120 paintings, reliefs, drawings, prints, and sculptures from American and international collections. Johns has worked in gray, at times to evoke a mood, at other times to evoke an intellectual rigor that results from his purging most color from his works. This exhibition is the first to focus on this important thematic and formal thread in Johns's career and includes some of the artist's best-known works, such as Canvas, Gray Target, Jubilee, 0 through 9, No, Diver, and The Dutch Wives, as well as works from the artist's Catenary series and new paintings never before exhibited. Organized by renowned scholar and ICP Adjunct Curator Okwui Enwezor, Archive Fever: Uses of the Document in Contemporary Art will present works by leading contemporary artists who use archival documents to rethink the meaning of identity, history, memory, and loss. Over the past thirty years, successive generations have taken wide-ranging approaches to the photographic and filmic archive. The works presented here take many forms, including physical archives arranged by peculiar cataloguing methods, imagined biographies of fictitious persons, collections of found and anonymous photographs, film versions of photographic albums, and photomontages composed of historical photographs. These images have a wide-ranging subject matter yet are linked by the artists' shared meditation on photography and film as the quintessential media of the archive.

P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center presents WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution, the first comprehensive, historical exhibition to examine the international foundations and legacy of feminist art. Organized by MOCA Ahmanson Curatorial Fellow Connie Butler for The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, WACK! focuses on the crucial period of the 1970s, during which the majority of feminist activism and artmaking occurred internationally. Praising the exhibition, P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center Director Alanna Heiss notes: "In addition to exploring international occurrences of feminist art, the show emphasizes New York's role in the movement, as well as its relationship with each artist involved. This is a particularly happy coincidence for P.S.1, as Connie Butler, the curator of WACK! in Los Angeles, has since last year joined the staff at the Museum of Modern Art, and will work on the very special installation of the exhibition with P.S.1 Director of Operations and Exhibitions Design Antoine Guerrero". This exhibition will be displayed on the entire First and Second Floors, and in the Third Floor Main Gallery from February 17, 2008 through May 12, 2008.

Today there are more artists working in more genres, using more varieties of material, and moving among more geographic locations than ever before. By exploring the networks that exist among contemporary artists and the work they create, the Biennial characterizes the state of American art today.

This landmark exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts presents modern masterpieces drawn from Russia’s principal collections: the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Art and the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow and the State Hermitage Museum and the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg. For the first time, works from these museums have been gathered for a single exhibition.

The Photographic Portrait Prize 2007 showcases the work of the most talented emerging young photographers, photography students and gifted amateurs alongside that of established professionals. From a competition open to everyone over 18, this year's prize attracted a record 2,700 entrants who submitted nearly 7,000 images. The exhibition presents a selection of sixty works, including this year's four shortlisted artists, offering visitors a unique oppurtunity to experience a varied selection of works ranging from intimate and personal photographs of friends and family to hard-hitting journalistic portraits from around the world, and judge for themselves which they think is the best.

This remarkable exhibition showcases 150 portraits including classic images from Vanity Fair's early period, displayed for the first time alongside photographs featured in the magazine since its re-launch in 1983.

Spanish artist Juan Muñoz (1953-2001) came to international prominence in the mid 1980s with dramatic sculptural installations that placed the human figure in specific architectural environments. His reputation was built on his power to create an intriguing tension between the illusory and the real, the contrasting acts of looking and receiving, and the poignant isolation of the individual amongst a crowd. This exhibition includes well-known sculptures such as Many Times (1999), The Prompter (1988) and Conversation Piece (1996), the “raincoat drawings”, and important pieces with sound, light and mechanical elements. This is the first major solo retrospective of Juan Muñoz in the UK since Double Bind, 2001, his remarkable installation for the Turbine Hall, the second in the Unilever Series at Tate Modern. There will also be a three-gallery focussed display of Juan Muñoz’s work on Level 3 until 20 April 2008. Several performances will occur during the exhibition, which are the result of Muñoz’s collaborations with well-known composers, writers and filmmakers.

Laughing in a Foreign Language investigates the whole spectrum of humour, from jokes, gags and slapstick to irony, wit and satire. The exhibition brings together more than 70 videos, photographs and interactive installation works by more than 30 artists from all around the world.

Ferdinand Hodler was considered during his lifetime as a leading artist in the Modernist movement. Born in Berne in 1853, he lived in Geneva until his death in 1918, but this was a European career marked by both success and scandal. He was a member of the great Secessions and saw his work acclaimed in Vienna, Berlin and Munich. His triumph in Paris came in 1891 when his seminal painting Night (Berne, Kunstmuseum), was banned by the city of Geneva for reasons of obscenity. But at the same time, he was receiving major public commissions from Zürich, Geneva, Iena and Frankfurt. These produced many opportunities for the artist to indulge his taste for simplified, monumental or decorative paintings. Holdler is also an uncompromising portrait painter and unequalled landscape painter.

Defying society in order to pursue her heart, Desdemona marries Othello, a Moorish General, and follows him to Cyprus where he must repel the threat of Turkish invasion. Iago, a junior officer tormented by his lack of promotion, sets out to destroy their love and manipulate Othello to serve his own ends.
